In the Ashtanga Yoga system it is recommended to practice 6 days a week and avoid practicing on new moon and full moon days. The moon is said to represent the mind and on these days practitioners are more prone to injury: as the moon affects our energy levels and makes us more imbalanced both physically and emotionally. So as ashtangis we should honor the natural moon cycles and therefore there will be no mysore practice on these days, instead we take rest. Please see the moon day calendar below.
